Share the love this holiday season! Mondays in December
We love the Gibsonville community, and in December we are sharing that love with weekly holiday gift basket drawings.  Gift baskets are made up of items provided by local downtown businesses, as well as gift certificates, so you can shop local for a true hometown holiday.
To enter into the drawing, just fill out our entry form online or stop by the library to do it in person.  Share some of your community love by letting us know what the library has meant to you – in 2020 and through the years. Everyone who shares their library story will receive a Hot Chocolate Mug Brownie Kit (complete with Gibsonville mural mug – while supplies last) in addition to having their name entered into weekly gift basket drawings.

Santa and Stories – Saturday, December 5 from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Join us for an “open-air open-house”at the Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum.  Families are invited to walk the newly installed Story Trail across the historic campus of Palmer Memorial Institute to read the classic children’s book “The Snowy Day.” Library staff will be on hand with free take-home holiday craft kits as well as free children’s books while supplies last.  Learn more about this event and how to register for photos with Santa on our events calendar.

Holiday Posada – Friday, December 18 at 6:00 PM
Come celebrate and participate in a traditional Latin American holiday posada outside the library with traditional songs, a piñata for the kids, take-home craft kits, traditional tamales (from Golden Taco food truck), punch and cookies, family holiday photos in our photo booth, and free books!
Children may come dressed as shepherds or angels if they like.
Face masks are required

What is in my MOUTH?  — Monday, Dec 14 @ 7PM (Teens)
So…. nobody’s traveling the world right now. BUT we can learn about distant places and cultures through food and trivia from home! Take your tongue on a trip to a different country each month as we explore the world by asking: What is in my mouth???
The library will provide free snack foods from a different part of the world each month, and host a live, online tasting party on the second Monday of each month with facts about the featured country, trivia, and the chance for participants to rate their mystery snack.
Sign up to reserve your snack and get info about the next online tasting party. We’ll let you know when new snacks are available to pick up from the library each month. Snacks will be bagged so you won’t know what you got until it’s time to taste together. That means folks with food sensitivities will need to proceed with EXTREME CAUTION. Intended for middle and high school ages.

Help maintain our Community Pantry
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the library’s Community Pantry!  So far, we have been able to keep the pantry stocked with donations from our neighbors.  The pantry is being used, which means we are meeting a need in our community.  If those who are able to contribute continue to donate nonperishable food items, basic toiletries, and baby supplies (find a full list here), we can continue to help our neighbors who are in need. This is one more way we can continue to share the love in Gibsonville.
